DATA MINING CUP User Event Days 2003 successfully concluded

From June, 18 to 20, the yearly Data Mining User Event Days were held in Chemnitz. With over 250 participants, Germanys largest Data Mining conference has again attracted a record number of visitors.

The visitors of the conference were imparted the foundations of Data Mining and Analytical CRM. Moreover, apart from the theoretical foundations they were also given an insight in Applied Data Warehousing illustrated by the examples of big players as Deutsche Telekom AG and Quelle AG.

In addition, renowned companies from telecommunications, mailorder trading, banking, insurance, and utility sectors told about their real-life experiences with Data Mining and CRM.

The visitor learned how DaimlerChrysler implements CRM projects successfully, how properly the Deutsche Post Direkt analyzes their target groups, and how the Deutsche Bank applies Data Mining results operatively in their Private and Business Customer units.

Successful start of the DATA MINING CUP competition 2003

With an amazing high and international number of participants the DATA MINING CUP competition goes into the fourth round on April 15, 2003! Up to now 481 students of 199 universities from 39 countries have registered for a participation in the DATA MINING CUP competition. By the May 14, 2003, people who are interested in a participation can still register online.

Students from national and international universities, advanced technical colleges and universities of cooperative education are invited to take part in solving a data analysis problem within the contest of the DATA MINING CUP 2003. In this year, the task is characterized by a high practical relevance: the task of the contest of the DATA MINING CUP 2003 is to identify spam emails by means of Data Mining. Further details you will find here. By May 14, 2003, the participants can submit their solutions. The best participants will get attractive prizes such as a trip to the international conference on "Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining" (KDD 2003), Washington (USA), August 24.-27., 2003. The prizes will be presented during the DMC User Event Days that will take place on June 18-20, 2003 in Chemnitz.

During the three-day specialist conference, which has evolved into the most important German Data Mining event, the conference visitors and the best student participants will meet top-class Data Mining experts to learn about news and trends in the areas of Data Mining and Analytical CRM.
