DATA MINING CUP 2015 breaks own record

prudsys DATA MINING CUP 2016 coming to its end

This year’s DATA MINING CUP came to an end on 19th May with a new record number of participants. A total of 188 teams from 48 countries took part in the globally established student competition for intelligent data analysis. The winners will be announced during the prudsys personalization summit (for retail) on 29/30th June 2015 at the andel’s Hotel in Berlin.

188 teams from a total of 153 universities from 48 countries took part in this year’s DATA MINING CUP (DMC for short) which came to a close on 19th May 2015. That is 63 more teams than 2014, setting a new record. The DMC is a student competition in the field of intelligent data analysis (data mining) that has been known around the world since 2000. Every year prudsys AG, a company specialized in real-time personalization, calls on students from all over the world to test their know-how on a topical, practical task. “This year, the focus was on the trending topic of Couponing in retail, more specifically on how to determine the influence of personalized coupons on ordering behavior”, says André Müller, Head of Research at prudsys AG and in charge of the DATA MINING CUP. “Competitors had to take anonymized historical order data with accompanying coupon generation from a real online shop and use it to develop a model that would make it possible to predict the redeemed coupons and the shopping basket value for new orders.” The teams had a total of six weeks to submit their results.

Attractive cash prizes await the winners as well as a trip to the prudsys personalization summit 2015 in Berlin, during the course of which the prizes for the best DMC teams will be awarded. This two-day conference, known until 2014 as “prudsys User Days”, is the leading event for news and trends in the field of dynamic omni-channel personalization for commerce. This year, the prudsys personalization summit takes place on 29th and 30th June 2015 at the andel’s Hotel in Berlin. There is still time to register. The conference program features presentations from large retailers such as Coop, Douglas, Creatrade, bonprix and 1-2-3.tv and industry experts including Dr. Kai Hudetz (IFH Köln) and Alexander Graf (Kassenzone.de).
